AMASavesLives Starts Today!

It’s October 1st, is your chapter saving lives? Today is the first day of the fall competition period which runs through December 16, 2011.

Thanks to Donate Life America the AMASavesLives Project will be continued for another two years with an exciting opportunity for chapters to get even more involved when Donate Life America becomes the Case Competition sponsor in 2012-2013.

While much is similar to the past two years of the program there are a few things chapters should keep in mind for 2011-2012:

  • A minimum of $15,000 in prizes (amounts will increase as donations come in from our fundraising efforts) will be awarded to chapters at the Collegiate Conference in March 2012.
  • AMASavesLives will be part of the Chapter Plan/Annual Report judging for chapter of the year under the Community Service and Competitions sections.
  • Donate Life America and local donation experts are ready to provide your chapter assistance - find your Local Contact and ask for assistance today.
  • There are two competition periods: Fall (October 1-December 16) and Spring (January 15-March 23). Make sure to read more about the competitions, deadlines, and related details here.

AMASavesLives 2010-2011 Recap

AMASavesLives experienced another successful year! After officially launching in February 2010, AMASavesLives is able to report extreme growth in all areas during 2010-11 thanks to the 100+ AMA chapters who were involved.

What did you help accomplish in addition to increased awareness of organ donation and AMASavesLives?

ü      You helped register 7,000+ new organ donors

ü      You created 1,000+ YouTube videos with 170,000+ views

ü      You posted 7,000+ messages on Facebook, Twitter, and our Blog

ü      And most importantly, you reached out to other organizations on your campus and in your community to spread the word about this AMAzing project.

Don’t forget, just because school is over doesn’t mean AMASavesLives is, many competitions run through May 31st. So continue to create videos, submit event summaries and post on our social media pages.

Future of AMASavesLives? Many of you asked us at the 33rd International Collegiate Conference if AMASavesLives would be continued next year. AMASavesLives is excited to announce the project will be funded for the next two years (2011-2013). Details will be announced later this summer, so make sure to include AMASavesLives in your chapter’s plans for 2011-12!

AMASavesLives needs your help! As a follow-up, AMASavesLives needs your feedback on the project’s success so we can find additional funding. You may have recently received an email asking you to complete a short survey about the project. If you have not already filled this out, please do so as it is important for the future of this program.

Finally, you can continue to make a difference and help AMA share life with the 110,000+ patients on the transplant waiting list by sending people to www.AMASavesLives.com!
